The standard
Reports identify what happened, who announced or measured it, when the underlying event occurred, the geographic and population scope, and what remains unknown. Official statements are attributed rather than treated as independent proof. Case counts, deaths, regulatory decisions, and policy proposals retain their reporting date and definition. Preliminary, modeled, alleged, and confirmed information use distinct language.

How it works in practice
Stories are categorized as public health and policy, outbreaks and pandemics, disease burden and mortality, healthcare and regulation, or safety and advisories. Material changes receive dated updates and errors receive corrections. News never automatically changes an evergreen treatment page; the Evidence Desk separately reviews whether new events or research justify updating a synthesis, its sources, and translations.
